I looked 10 years older than I was

I first became aware of my size at my brother-in-laws wedding in Cryprs, I felt fat compared to every one else in the wedding party. When we arrived home I watched the wedding DVD and cried, I'd thought at the time I looked fine, but really I looked about 10 years older and 9 months pregnant. The following weekend I saw an article in one of the Sunday magazines and thought 'this is too good to be true', I made an appointment to see my own GP and asked his advise, he didn't know a lot about gastric band surgery so I rang The Hospital Group for advice.

I booked my consultation

I booked my consultation straight away and from that first phone call I knew I was going to go ahead, but what really made my mind up was meeting my Patient Care Co-ordinator who went though all the benefits and risks with me. There was one big problem and that was finding the money for surgery. Mark my husband had just been laid off from work, so money was tight, but after talking we agreed we would take out a loan - Mark knew this was the only thing that would make me happy.

My procedure was booked for 23rd December 2004 - just two days before christmas - I knew this meant no Christmas dinner but I was going to be slim and that was more important.

I am a new woman

Yes, I have had my ups and downs over the pass 18 months, but The Hospital Group and Mark have been behind me every step of the way. I am a new women - people now see me as Jackie the confident lady and not Jackie the bubbly lady. People would often say when I complained about my weight 'but you've got a pretty face!' Now I've got all three confidence, bubbly and pretty with a good body and it all thanks to the hospital group, and not forgetting my family and friends who gave me all the support I needed.
